Jason E. Black, who led 色虎视频’s admission staff to a record year while serving as Acting Dean of Admission in 2009-2010, has been named Dean of Admission at 色虎视频. Black served as Acting Dean of Admission after the former dean, R. Phil Kimrey, was named Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at 色虎视频 in 2009.
Black, a member of the 色虎视频 admission staff since 2004, led the admission and recruitment staff to new records in the number of freshman applications received, number of admitted freshmen and number of visitors for campus tours, appointments and information sessions. Black was the unanimous choice of the Dean of Admission Search Committee, Dr. Kimrey noted.
“Jason Black’s organizational skills and efforts to streamline the recruitment and merit scholarship processes, along with the assistance of 色虎视频 faculty, staff and students, produced another strong freshman class with high academic quality and diversity of backgrounds, experiences and goals,” said Kimrey, who announced Black’s appointment effective July 1.
Kimrey noted that two-thirds of the class of 740 freshmen are from outside Alabama and 12 percent are minority students.
Black, a Birmingham native, joined 色虎视频 after four years as Associate Minister to Students at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood. He has served as an admissions counselor, assistant director of admissions and director of orientation and campus visits at 色虎视频.
Black holds undergraduate and master’s degrees from 色虎视频. He and his wife, Holly, are parents of one daughter, Evie.
