聽The Lay Academy of Theology sponsored by 色虎视频鈥檚 Beeson Divinity School will offer聽 several evening courses and other opportunities this fall for persons interested in various aspects of faith exploration.

Evening courses include 鈥淎 Theology of Christian Living,鈥 taught by retired Beeson systematic theology professor Dr. Fisher Humphreys on six Mondays, 6 to 8 p.m., beginning Sept. 20;聽 鈥淪tories of Great Christians,鈥 taught by Beeson鈥檚 Billy Graham Professor of Evangelism Dr. Lyle Dorsett on six Tuesdays, 6聽 to 8 p.m., beginning Sept. 28; and 鈥淭hings to Come,鈥 taught by Beeson Old Testament and Hebrew professor Dr. Allen P. Ross on eight Thursdays, 6 to 8 p.m., beginning Sept. 30.

A one-day workshop, 鈥淭he Basics of Writing to Publish Books and Articles鈥 will be taught by published authors Denise George and Carolyn Tomlin 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9. George and Tomlin are co-founders/co-teachers of Boot Camp for Christian Writers, a writing seminar held throughout the U.S.

Beeson鈥檚 annual Reformation Heritage Lectures will feature church history specialist Scott M. Manetsch on Oct. 26-28. Dr. Manetsch, chair of the Church History and History of Christian Thought department at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, Ill., will lecture at 11 a.m. each day with an additional lecture at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27. The lectures are free.

In early 2011, Beeson research professor Dr. Gerald Bray will lead a weekday seminar on the topic, 鈥淜ing James at 400: How We Got Our Bible,鈥 2 to 4 p.m., Jan. 24-28. Dr. Bray will revisit the history, origins and development of the King James Bible, which celebrates its 400th anniversary this year.
